As the CEO of Energy for Industry Ltd, Grant Smith is responsible for running all facets of the business. He has a proven executive management track record and over 15 years of experience driving growth in the electricity industry. Prior to joining EFI, Grant was Meridian Energy’s Portfolio Manager of Trading & Generation, responsible for the overall risk trading risk position and he led the integration of Meridian’s wholesale and retail market positions.

He is a board member of the Bioenergy Association NZ, which recently published its vision and strategy for bio-energy related developments in New Zealand over the next 30 years and sits on an Economics Advisory Group on future wood energy impacts in New Zealand.

Grant has previously worked in the Australian and New Zealand energy markets in roles including power station development, strategy and business development, technology research, commercial and trading risk management and retail sales and marketing.
